Anything and everything about Indian movies.. :)

Being an absolute movie buff and crazy fan of good cinema, sometimes when I come across certain wonderful stories or some genuine efforts by talented creative minds, I just feel like sharing my thoughts an d views on their creations. So, Here I am presenting my views on some of the movies that touched me, moved me in a way, or just made me sit up and take notice for its genuine effort and story telling craft.

*******************************************
"Kai Po Che"

“Kai po che - brothers for life”..Bahu saras che!!! An ordinary tale of extra-ordinary friendship that is tested against most difficult challenges and emerges triumphant against all odds and true spirit of friendship that stays on for entire life n even after that.. It displays a kaleidoscope of emotions and proves that spirit of true FRIENDSHIP, HUMANITY and HOPE always stays on forever!! Abhishek kapoor weaves a complex yet simple story that is so "Indian" at heart..This one is must watch for all the "BOYS" who share this ultimate bond with their best pals and for all the "GUJRATIS" who have kept the kites of humanity soaring high in the turbulent times.. :) :)

"Barfi"
'BARFI'.. not just a movie but a delightful experience of a lifetime..addictive n infectious sweetness of mind blowing innocent n beautiful characters that grows on u..:) It perfectly describes love, friendship n every awesome feeling without even uttering a word that normal human beings can't feel..leaves u speechless filled with just warmth of love n happiness all around :):) Loads of thanks to priyanka chopra,Ranbir Kapoor,Anurag Basu for making such a beautiful film.. :) "A heart-warming tale of selfless love and about finding happiness in the smallest things in life; that tells you no matter how tough your life may be, 'Don't Worry. Be Barfi!" :)

Read it somewhere - truly describes experience of watching Barfi -"I don't understand how something so pristine can be judged as manipulative. It's like condemning chocolate just because it's sweet and melted in your mouth. Yes, there are films that try to exploit disabilities to forcefully squeeze emotions. But Barfi! refuses to acknowledge it as a disadvantage. It's about finding bliss in every bitter sweet scenario. It's about building your own fairy tale with whatever is available. It's about saying boo to perfection. To miss Barfi would be a crime..To embrace it is to serenade the sublime" :)

"Rockstar"
Rockstar...truly a masterpiece...Geniuses at their creative best...infectious music that grows on you like anything!!!... No words to describe the talent that is poured out by his genius called "A.R.Rehmaan",Mohit Chauhan and Ranbir Kapoor... Rockstar has a Sufi soul. and loads of passion and subtlety in transforming deep love of two start struck lovers on screen.. Usage of Rumi's wonderful writings in some dialogues and songs really complements movie's canvas and enhances its 'noir' genre.. It has its own flaws but eventually it rises above them and proves that 'Love' and 'Art' are the only two beautiful and most honest things a human can ever feel!! Like one dialogue says in the film "Is bandey pe allah ka haath hai"...This piece of art is surely immortal!!!! :) :)

"Vicky Donor"
Vicky donor - A very innovative and unique story telling served in super colourful "punjabi- bong" cocktail with a pinch of reality.. Must say - a very mature and sensitive subject matter tackled with equal sensitivity by writer Juhi chaturvedi and presented bang on by the talented actors and director.. Awesome story and "Paani da rang" by multifaceted Ayushman Khurana is such a fresh treat for music lovers.. serves as the icing on this nicely baked cake!.. surely you'll remember it long after you have left the theatre.. Crispy dialogues and taut narrative works of well.. A very mature cinematic experience for bollywood movie buffs!!

"English Vinglish"
A journey of self discovery of a Indian Woman, A doting mother, a dedicated wife, a perfect housewife with minor imperfections and some incomplete dreams... She is what she is and a much more than that without even knowing.. coz she understands that her people are more important for her rather than damn anything in the world.. But her understanding and maturity is taken for granted and she is forced to find her own self.. and the story is about how she emerges even more powerful, loyal, honest and triumphant through all this and discovers more meaning to her life and family!Must watch for everyone who takes women in their lives for granted!

"Kahaani"
A film that rides on a pregnant woman's able shoulders and takes you through her journey and struggle to find whereabouts of her missing husband in the City of Joy 'Kolkata'.. Again a "very very Indian movie' which understatedly touches the issue of terrorism and crimes in India and highlights the Indian spirit of fighting back with equal power against all odds and evils to achieve justice and dignity for the innocent!! A very powerful and talented Vidya balan will take you through a wonderful journey of womanhood and motherhood that gives a woman lot of strength and makes her so strong as aptly referred to goddess "Durga Maa" who is believed to destroy all the evil so that people can live peacefully.. Yes! Definitely the willpower, conviction and courage is all that makes the difference to individuals lives... :)

"Jab Tak Hai Jaan"
Jab Tak Hai Jaan.. Not a quintessentially convincing romance but like a 'rich wine' which tastes better with time.. :) SRK proves that he is far far ahead and better than contemporaries when its come to living, defining and celebrating LOVE on celluloid..only Yash Chopra could make heartache so attractive and ennobling that his characters wear it like a badge of Honor..They don't make such films celebrating love anymore.. so this is indeed the last one for SRK,Adi n YRF fans.. :( such magical love stories will never be weaved onscreen again!!!

"Wake Up Sid"
One of those very radiant, insightful and satisfying and fresh movies about the mental dilemma, self discovery and coming of age journey of any simple young individual in contemporary times.. A very fresh and unanticipated pairing of two brilliant talents Ranbir and konkana sparkles and dazzles throughout the film and they both exude lots of confidence and subtlety in portraying nuances of their different ambitions, goals and path they traverse parallely to achieve what they want to achieve! The dynamics of their beautiful and warm relation and its journey from friendship to love.. from amateurs to very mature and responsible individuals will leave you with much warmth!! Take a bow Mr. Ayan Mukherji:)

"Swades"
'We -The People' - as the tag line aptly describes, this film is about us.. You and me and our first and most important identity 'Indian'.. A movie defining us, our living, our people, our morals, our habits, our good and bad practices, our righteousness and completely wrong deeds.. basically holds a mirror on our so called "Developing Country" who is definitely progressing on many fronts but at times getting disgraced and plagued by our Hypocrisy , discrimination on each and every small topic.. be it gender or caste or economic status or standard of living and many more.. There is lot more to look beyond this.. .a lot more to be understood.. a lot more to be done about it.. and nothing of it is difficult if one has very strong belief and ethics to look beyond imperfections and act to rise over and above it!! It is shown through a simple journey of a very intelligent N.R.I. who while working for NASA and achieving successes on every step, still feels incomplete and unsatisfied about it.. obviously he finds much needed peace and a "Quantum of solace" and of course his lady love (very beautiful Gayatri Joshi) and his Kaveri Amma.. who accompany him at every step during his journey of self discovery and returning back to his roots!! Yes! This one is nothing but crystal clear reflection of us and our beloved country.."Swades" :)

"Guzaarish"
Very very Philosophical, very very endearing and very very poetic and yeah last but not the least.. very very positive movie I have seen in recent times.. Sanjay Leea Bhansali again creates a beautiful , lyrical and artistic cinematic experience with his muse Aishwarya Rai and very evolved and mature actor "Hrithik Roshan".. A journey of life, its bouquet of offerings which are filled of small joys, much love, deep pain,Hope, anguish, loss, loneliness and acceptance!! This time Sanjay explores life through the life of once a celebrated magician 'Merlin' but now a quadriplegic ,bed-ridden Ethan Mascarenus who lives his life with "Dignity" even after going through much undeserved and unfair episodes in his life!! He inspires many unfortunate individuals to lead their life with equal hope and dignity and at the end "just wants to rest in peace".. This movie captures a very true and raw essence of gods one and only precious gift that we call as "LIFE".. Yes.. I find it very beautiful and it truly motivates me and makes me thank god for everything when Ethan very casually says to his fan "Saat savva saat pound ki ho ya sau gram ki.. Zindagi bahut khubsoorat hai mere dost!!!"
"Thodi si meethi hai.. Zara si mirchi hai..
Sau gram zindagi yeh.. sambhal ke kharchi hai.."
"Der tak ubali hai.. cup mein daali hai..
Kadvi hai naseebsi.. ye coffee gadhi kali hai..
Chammach bhar cheeni ho.. Itni si marzi hai!! :)"
Khari hai.. Khoti hai.. Rone ko chhoti hai..
Dhaage se khushiyon ko silti hai.. darzi hai"
Sau gram zindagi yeh sambhal ke kharchi hai..
"Life Is Good.. Life is wonderful..
Life Is Pain.. We are all part of this Game!!" :)

"Omkara"
This is what happens when a very talented story teller , a wonderful poet and a bunch of talented actors come together to tell a story of Human Emotions written by world's one of the most human and brilliant writer, his majesty "Shakespeare" whose stories and plays know no boundaries and can directly connect to any audience at all levels! Talented team of 'Vishal Bhardwaj' narrates  probably the darkest tale of Shakespeare - 'othello' set in the heartland of Mafias 'Uttar Pradesh, India'.. Omkara displays a canvas of very extreme human emotions which can create and destroy everything in its wake! Every character symbolises one human emotion and travels through this journey from inception to destruction and ultimate Redemption!!  Love, lies,Betrayal, loyalty, integrity, passion, innocence, temptation, lust,
greed, faith, trust, possessiveness, jealousy and Redemption! a kaleidoscope of human emotions unveils through the journey of love and passion that protagonists (Essentially mad lovers as Shakespeare's stories always have ) undergo in their life due to many circumstances that unfold one after another..
Having said that, this is indeed a very dark story, the journey is still a very memorable and mature cinematic experience embellished and enriched with top notch performances of its actors, director, lyricist, music director and everyone associated with it that makes this "A Indian Masterpiece".. :)
